Catawba Eases Past Brevard 24-10

It was not a glamorous win for the Tribe on Saturday, but it was a win nonetheless. The Indians beat Brevard 24-10 mainly due to the early success of running back Jamelle Cuthbertson, who was one of only a handful of seniors to play their final game at Shuford Stadium. The senior tailback accounted for 156 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

It was an uneventful day for Catawba quarterbacks against the Tornados, a team still seeking its first ever South Atlantic Conference victory. Both quarterbacks Patrick Dennis and Daniel Griffith passed for only 4 total yards. The leading passer of Saturday's contest was receiver Brandon Bunn as he tossed a 26-yard pass to tight end Grayson Downs on a trick play.
Defensive leaders for the Tribe included Lakeem Perry, Charles McAfee, and Brandon Sutton. Perry, a true freshman, once again led the Indians with 15 total tackles on the day and two tackles for loss. Senior linbacker Charles McAfee made eight solo stops against BC's option offense. Sophomore defensive tackle Brandon Sutton continues to play with authority in the middle as he made eight tackles and two for loss. Catawba players with a sack included Terrence Porter, Charles McAfee, and Marqus Davis.

Catawba plays its final regular season game this Saturday at 7:00 PM against Lenoir-Rhyne University.
